UncategorizedWe survived our 10 hour drive to PA. We ended up leaving much later then expected. Our attempted to leave seemed to be a comedy of errors (or a tragedy). There were a variety of issues, ranging from Karl forgetting about the hour time difference between Chicago and Indiana (we’re on Eastern time now! We an hour ahead of you), so that was our first set back. We lost the van keys. Then the van wouldn’t start (we drained the battery from leaving the door open too long). We FINALLY got off, but we had to stop at the office to pick up James’ ping pong paddle. Then we needed to go by the bank, stop by the store, get gas. It was 8 pm when we left (I’d hoped to be leaving between 5:30-6). And our fun 10 hour drive began.
With 3 drivers the trip went very quickly (even with me needed to stop every two hours for a restroom break). We got to the Farm about 6 am. Needless to say, Saturday was mostly a sleepless haze (though we all did get some nap time in). Today has gone much better. Will has been very excited to see the roosters and chickens …he keeps wanting to go out and see them, and loves to copy the rooster’s crow. He enjoyed going for a walk around the farm this afternoon, but has had more fun playing in the sandbox. He and his cousin had fun playing in the creek this afternoon as well (what’s a little mud, right?). We had a bon fire tonight and Will got to eat his first roasted marsh mellow (I felt a little bad he’s never had one before!). He declared it "Yummy!" The kids got to have their time to eat marsh mellows and then went on a hay ride (being pulled by the lawn tractor). The adults had smores later, after they were in bed.
Tomorrow we’re going to chop down a Christmas tree, and decorate it. We’re celebrating Christmas and Thanskgiving (T-mas) in one big celebration this year. It’s looking like we might even have snow for the celebration, to help with the mood! It’s been great fun to see family, and watch how much fun the cousins are having playing together.
