As I’ve mentioned before, James’ office is in the process of moving to a new building this weekend. It’s been a crazy time for him as he’s putting up new cubes, moving all the equipment over & setting everything up.  Today he’s over setting up everyone’s computer.  (Just as an aside, when I taught, we had to pack up our computers at the end of the school year, and unpack them in August again. I quickly learned how to put my own computer together, or ask someone around me to help, there really wasn’t anyone easily avaliable to help me. I asked him why he couldn’t have the people at the office do it themselves, and he said it was easier to just do it for them.  Of course, I came in early to do set my computer up—I didn’t show up at my normal time on the first day of school and try to do on “company timeâ€?. In the business world, “company timeâ€? is important and equals money being earned.  It’s still annoying that he’s gone, doing something so simple—if I can do it, I think it’s pretty simple. I’m sure if he reads this, he’ll have many comments for why he’s doing it and why it’s really not that simple, I’m just having my say here!)

Yesterday we took a break from the move to go to a reception for one of his bosses that got married over Christmas break in Hawaii.  My friend/old college roommate Jen (who just moved here at the beginning of the month) agreed to watch the boys. This is the first time we’ve left Alex with a non-family member. Not because I’m worried about him—I’m worried about the person watching him!  He likes to be held. It’s one thing when it’s Grandma holding him—she loves to!  But someone who has 3 other kids running around, it’s harder to hold him.  The reception was from 7-10, in Broad Ripple. That’s a “cool or trendy area of Indy (or an area popular with lots of college students). Neither James or I have been before. It was nice, but tricky to find the restaurant and a parking place.

I told Jen I thought we’d leave about 8, so we’d be back around 8:30. After a fun time eating and talking with people, James came over and I asked him what time it was—and it was 9:30. WHOOPS!  And we didn’t even leave then! James wanted to finish his drink, and we had to say our good-byes, visit the restroom and walk back to the car. It was much closer to 10 by the time we were driving away.  Of course, we didn’t have Jen’s phone number in the cell phone so we couldn’t call her either.  Good thing she’s such a good sport, and didn’t mind. I know we owe her some baby sitting time though!   Once we got to her house, I need to feed Alex (I’d only given her one bottle, thinking we’d only be gone two hours) and Will decided he was hungry. (I tried to feed him supper before we left, but he wasn’t hungry. He ended up eating there…so not only were we late, but one son eats her out of house and home, and the other was fussy unless he was being held! We REALLY owe her some time!)  We talked for awhile, and didn’t leave until 11. Will feel asleep in the car for the second night in a row.  James put him in bed, and Will woke up enough to say “No night-night.â€? James went to get Rusty (Will’s stuffed dog that is needed for bed time), and Will was asleep by the time he got back.  Alex ate again when we got home, like I’d been starving him (silly boy). Then he slept 6 hours for me! Ahh, bliss!  Then, I got another hour and a half before he woke up again, and then ANOTHER hour and a half before Will woke up—Will slept in until 9:30!  Very unusual. But, after the craziness of the previous day, it was nice to have a relaxing morning. I felt bad about missing church… yet each boy is fighting a cold as well, so I’m not sure we would have gone even if we weren’t up that late.  A few weeks ago our Bible Study was talking about the Commandment to “Remember the Sabbath and keep it holyâ€?.  Our leader stressed how we are commanded to worship and relax for one day of the week (she didn’t want to get into the discussion of what day you call the Sabbath).  So I’m trying to make a point of having some worship time when we stay home. We had on our favorite Christian music this morning and a have a sermon on CD I’ve been wanting to listen to that is going to be my worship service today.Â
