One of the errands we ran the other day (just scroll down a bit to read about those, I'm too lazy to link to it. It was only yesterday's post!) was to a craft store. I had dragged the kids in to look at scrapbook paper on sale. On our way to the check out, we passed bins of "Kids Craft Kits" on clearance.

(Just an aside…I've heard or seen several people call Arts & Crafts "Farts & Crap". In this case I do believe the "crap" is the correct title. BUT–we got several of these kits because 1) They were really cheap! and 2) They make great "bonding time" where Will & I can do things together–or, they give us something to do together so I don't have to play cars or trains with him AGAIN. Family members, please don't be surprised if you get some type of "Crap" gift from Will. We talk about you while we're making them (who you are & why we're making it for you–we don't talk about you in a bad way, I promise!) & have a good time and then pass it on to you to let you do with it what you want.  And other family members with older kids (ok, just T, with our older niece & nephew), don't be surprised if you get a bunch of these kids for Christmas because 1) They were really cheap! and 2) Your kids like crafts too!)

Back to the Crafts. We did several kits. One kit I'd gotten Will was a tiger puppet. We opened it the other day and I realized we needed craft glue. So, we went back to the craft store at a later time to get glue (+ more kits for the aformentioned gifts).  Will didn't mind that his tiger had no stripes or face and had a great time playing with the orange mitten that fit on his hand. Yesterday we sat down and made the puppet.  I put the glue on parts and let him put some things on, other parts of the pupples (like the eyes) the perfectionist in me wouldn't let him do… it'd didn't matter, he found things to play with. The whiskers for the tiger are bits of black pipe cleaner. He started to play with those.  I glued some on and gave him the rest to play with. He had his digger scooping them up and dumping them into the dump truck. Later, he had a truck transporting them. To date, he has played more with those whiskers then the puppet. Seems once the puppet had eyes and stripes it was no longer fun.  I keep reminding myself the whole reason we got those was for the process. Smile
