This evening I left to go do some dress shopping without the boys. Will was sad he couldn't go. "I want a dress!" he whined said. I told him dresses were for girls, and he wouldn't have fun going with me anyway.  A few moments later he declared, "When I turn into a girl, I will have a dress!"

  1. Crazy Aunt Betty Says:

Maybe GrammaLo can bring him back a kilt from Scotland?

  2. One of my daycare tots seems to think you can switch genders, too. I don’t argue…

As to the dress issue, I have a friend who was a sailor on tall ships (the kind with sails) for thirty years. He’s been all around the world, and, as a consequence of much time spent in the South Pacific and Indonesia, will happily wear a sarong during the hottest days of summer. A sailor of thirty years? Climbing all that rigging, hauling all those sails? No one can say he’s not masculine…
