VBS–Days #4 & #5 + The Weekend
Tina's Blog July 1st, 2007Oh my, I can't believe I didn't think to tell you about the last two days of VBS!!! I'm sure you were just waiting on the edge of your seats, wondering what happened. (You don't have to correct me if that wasn't the case). AND–you're getting TWO posts for the price (?) of one as I thrill you with the exciting details of our weekend!
Thursday we did a fun, VERY simple craft. Our Friday craft was much longer–a foam picture frame with foam cactus/cowboy cut-outs on it & lacing all around the edges. So we let the kids start it Thursday and then we finished it Friday. I took pictures of the kids Wednesday and Thursday and they could put them in the frames. The pictures didn't turn out quite as well as I wanted (a few were blurry), which was disappointed in that. But the main thing was Friday was CRA-ZY! We got behind in the first group and were running around like crazy for the first three groups. The fourth one was our smallest one and it gave us time to catch our breath. We figured it was pay-back for thinking the week had been so easy up until then.
Will LOVED VBS. Friday he got to take his cowboy hat home. He told me "Why did I get to take my hat home?" When I told him it was because VBS was done, he seemed rather sad. I did wonder this morning, if he'd find "regular" church boring after the fun of VBS. He seemed to have a good time and gave us the best ever retelling of his Bible Story yet. (The story was Elijah being fed by the ravens. He thought it was funny the birds had food in their mouths, if you were wondering.)
This weekend was spent cleaning in anticipation of hosting 3 couples from our Adult Sunday School Class tonight. The carpets got steam cleaned and the house looks GREAT! We had a great time getting to know them better, eating pizza and lots of desserts, and letting the kids run around in the back yard. Once again we really appreciated our deck. It was a beautiful evening and nice to have that outside space.
I'm excited my family is coming to visit tomorrow so I can show them the clean house… I'm not sure if it will stay clean much longer then that.
