We’re Doing WHAT?!?

Tina's Blog October 5th, 2007

When I was 27 I was asked to make a 10 year goal.  I (semi-jokingly) said I wanted to visit every continent by the time I was 37.  At that point I’d already been to South America (Equator), Europe (Ireland) and Asia (India). I figured Africa and Australia would be “easy to get to” in 10 years (and didn’t count Antarctica in that. I have no desire to every go there).  Well…5 years later I think I'm about to get one off my list!

James and I are going to Kenya for a missions trip. In January we'll be going to Nairobi Evangelical Graduate School of Theology for two weeks. We will be helping teach computer classes.  There is talk of other activities (seeing other ministries) but we're not quite sure how they'll fit them…the computer classes are much needed and in high demand.  Some of the students come to the school never using a computer before–and they need to be brought to the point where they can write their Thesis on one.

As for the boys, they don't know it yet but they get to have a two week vacation at their cousins house.  James' sister has agreed to watch them and I know they'll have a great time with their 4 cousins, aunt, uncle and Grandpa Miles.  I know Will will be fine. I'm a bit concerned about Alex. At two, he'll be just old enough to know we're gone, but not old enough to understand why or when we'll be back.

We will keep you up to date on our preparation and then the actual trip on the blog.  We do ask you pray for us as we prepare, work on what we're teaching/training and start trying to raise support as well as work on getting all the details ironed out.  One blessing already is we both got our passports within 3 weeks of applying/renewing (this summer there was a back-log of up to 4 months).
