Happy May Day!
Tina's Blog May 1st, 2008Yeah! It's May! April (the month of rain) is done! I love the month of May!
What did we do in the last week? (I was a bit embarrassed to see it has almost been a week since I posted). Sadly, it took some real thinking to help me remember what we did! Part of the problem? Thursday I came down with the cold Alex has. This one has been a really long, annoying cold. Alex started getting sick a week ago Sunday and I'm still wiping his nose. I am still dealing with it as well. After a day I didn't feel tired, but I can't get rid of all the gunk in my sinuses/nose/throat! I was really thankful I didn't have to talk for 3 hours Monday night, I know my voice would have NOT held up! Here's a quick review for those who might care:
- Thursday I made 2 meals for friends who are sick + friends who have a new baby. That worked out well to do them the same day, the "old stand-by" meal I make makes enough for 2, but the family is getting a bit tired of it. They got a freezer meal I pulled out. Other than that, I rested, hoping to get better.
- Friday we cleaned and got laundry done. We were having some friends over Sunday night and I was trying to get lots of cleaning done.
- Saturday was another cool weekend day (we'd hit 80s the two days before! I was sad I'd been sick and not taken advantage of it, but the kids played outside on their own). James took the boys for a bike ride in the bike trailer. They had a great time, he got sore and I got more cleaning done.
- Looking at the weather forecast, I decided to postpone our out door lab for Monday. They were forecasting temps in the high 40s/low 50s and rain. I didn't think that'd be fun to do an outdoor lab in–and still not feeling 100%, I didn't want to be out in it.
- Sunday was church…and then the fun of having people over.
- While I really enjoyed our house in the company, very tidied up state, I've decided it's too much work to maintain. Any energy I gain from the clean house is sucked up with all the work trying to keep it that way!
- Monday I picked Will up from preschool and it was warmish (50s), partly sunny/partly cloudy and not that bad out. We ate lunch at 12 outside, and I was thinking "It'd had BETTER rain this afternoon to justify my postponing lab!" It did. By 2:30, it was a cold, miserable, windy, steady rain. Those with the 2-4 and 4-6 labs were glad for the postponement.
- Tuesday we took Alex to the Dr. for his skin issues, and got some REALLY expensive lotion for his exima. The same lotion we used to have that he squirted all over the bathroom counter last fall. It's stored up high so he can't get to it now. And I stepped way out of my comfort zone that evening, but that event gets it's own post.
- Wednesday… hmmm….the kids played outside. I read outside and they played very nicely. I got my two jobs done I had planned to do (sweep and mop all the floors and tidy up the kitchen).
So, there's our boring update of what's been keeping me from writing here in the last week. I'll try to have the next two entries be a bit more entertaining. I'm working on one, my big adventure on Tuesday night. Hopefully I get it done tonight.
