Well, actually, by the time you read this it'll be Tuesday. But it was written about the weekend and Monday, so I'll keep the title.

  • This weekend was (as promised) a work-at-home weekend. We finally got the wildflower seeds planted in a back area behind our shed. I've been wanting to do that for a year now, it just took us that long to get the weeds out and the ground ready. I'm hoping they'll be low maintaince color! James also got the front area ready for the plants we anticipate buying next week.
  • Saturday we deemed it warm enough to turn on the sprinkler and the boys had great fun running in it then and again today. It was a $1 "crazy" tip with three small hoses at the end of it, and it's already been well worth the $1–even with two of the fancy tips broken off, the boys are still having fun playing in it. They can each play with a tip like a hose, and not have to share!
  • Will is taking an interest in sounding out words. We've gotten several simple books at the library (The recent one was dealing with Rat, hat, mat and cat) and he's quite proud that he read it by himself–ok, it was mostly repeating it, but we then worked on spelling out those words with the magnetic letters at the library this morning and he was VERY excited that he made and read Rat and Mat and Hat. Then he was done.  No attempt for bat or cat.  So we'll keep doing it when he's interested, but not push–that is why we waited on kindergarten for him!
  • This morning we signed up for the summer reading program and Will understands what is involved this year. He was quite excited about it and when we got home we HAD to read 15 minutes so he could color in a space. (As the spaces get filled on the path, he gets several rewards along the way.) I'm glad he's enjoying the reading, not just wanting the prizes. I actually think he's more excited about coloring in the space then the prize though.
  • Today (Monday) was our 7 year wedding anniversary! Just a bit amazing it's been 7 years. On one hand, I don't feel that old…but on the other, it's hard to remember not being married. James was able to get a co-worker to watch the boys and we went out for lunch. (The boys had already eaten and were napping or playing.)  It was nice to have some time together. Our real celebration will be later in the month. We're going to West Virginia with our Kenya team for a team retreat at a B&B owned by a team member. We're going a few days early to get a small vacation in before the rest of the team comes. I was wanting to post a picture of our wedding day, but that was pre-digital and we don't have any scanned in! I'm going to have to change that!
